Nickel Isotopes in Meteorites: Evidence for Live Fe and Distinct Ni Isotope Reservoirs in the Early Solar System
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: With a half-life of 1.49 Myr, the Fe-Ni decay scheme is ideally suited for dating meteorites and planetary processes that occurred in the first 10Myr of the Solar System [1]. Further, Ni possesses two neutron-rich isotopes, Ni and Ni, considered to be produced through nuclear statistical equilibrium processes occurring in neutron-rich supernova ejecta [2]. Both excesses and deficits have been documented for such neutron-rich isotopes in iron group elements (Ca, Ti, Cr, Ni, Ni and Zn) in normal and FUN calciumaluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) as well as in primitive and differentiated meteorites [3, 4]. These anomalies carry information on the scale and extent of heterogeneity that may have existed in the accretion disc surrounding the young Sun.

Nickel Nucleosynthetic Anomalies in Leachates of Carbonaceous Chondrites
Introduction: The numerous nucleosynthetic isotopic anomalies found in refractory inclusions, in presolar grains, and in special phases carried by chondrites suggest that the matter constituting the solar system results from a mixing between different sources. Recently, Ni nucleosynthetic anomalies have been found in various meteorites, including iron meteorites, ureilites, chondrites [e.g. 1-3...
متن کاملIron-60 Evidence for Early Injection and Efficient Mixing of Stellar Debris in the Protosolar Nebula
Among extinct radioactivities present in meteorites, Fe (t1/2 = 1.49 Myr) plays a key role as a high-resolution chronometer, a heat source in planetesimals, and a fingerprint of the astrophysical setting of solar system formation. A critical issue with Fe is that it could have been heterogeneously distributed in the protoplanetary disk, calling into question the efficiency of mixing in the sola...
متن کاملTitanium Isotopes in CAIs - Heterogeneities in the early solar system
Calcium-rich-Aluminum-rich refractory inclusions are considered to be the first objects yet identified that formed in the solar system. It is now established that most (but not all) of them contain nucleosynthetic anomalies from e-, p-, r-, and/or s-processes. Exactly how and when these heterogeneities in the dust that formed the solar system were established is not yet clear. For a better unde...

Introduction: The evidence for the presence of short-lived Fe (decaying into Ni, with the half life of 1.5 Ma) in the early system has recently received considerable attention, both experimentally and theoretically. Evidence for Ni excesses in eucrites, without correlation to Fe/Ni has been obtained by Shukolyukov and Lugmair [1, 2]. Recently, based on ion microprobe studies of phases with very...
متن کاملHigh precision measurements of non-mass-dependent effects in nickel isotopes in meteoritic metal via multicollector ICPMS.
We measured the Ni isotopic composition of metal from a variety of meteorite groups to search for variations in the 60Ni abundance from the decay of the short-lived nuclide 60Fe (t(1/2) = 1.49 My) and for possible nucleosynthetic effects in the other stable isotopes of Ni. We developed a high-yield Ni separation procedure based on a combination of anion and cation exchange chromatography. Nicke...
